Maulānā Nadhīr Ḥusayn of Delhi [d 1320/1902]: The Scholar of Everything

A distinguished scholar of ḥadīth and other sciences in India who was heir to the ḥadīth legacy of Shāh Waliullah and one of the prominent foundational figures of the 19th century Ahl-e-Ḥadīth school in the Indian subcontinent. Born in the Bihār province of Indian in 1220H, Muḥammad Nadhīr Ḥusayn b. Jawwād ʿAlī hailed from a scholarly and noble family of Prophetic lineage, some 30 generations to Imām Ḥusayn. After a primary education in his native region, he travelled widely throughout India in search of knowledge. In 1236H he arrived in ʿAẓīmabād and accompanied the reformers Shāh Ismāʿīl Shahīd [d 1246/1831],
