Aḥmad b. Abdu’l-Raḥmān al-Banna [d. 1378/1958]
الشيخ أحمد بن عبد الرحمن البنا Born 1301/1885, the father of the late Imām Ḥasan al-Banna, he was an Azhar graduate, imam and Hanbali scholar who wrote a massive 24-volume commentary on Musnad Ahmad entitled al-Fatḥ al-Rabbānī along with a condensed version of that entitled Bulūgh al-Amānī, an arrangement of the Musnad of Abū Dāwūd al-Ṭayālīsī (d 204/818) entitled Minḥat al-Ma‘būd, and an edition of the Musnad of Imām al-Shāfi‘ī entitled Badā’i‘ al-Minan, among many other works.
