Abuʾl Barakāt ʿAbdullah b. Aḥmad b. Maḥmūd al-Nasafī [d. 701/1301]

Great Ḥanafī scholar of fiqh and Qurʾānic commentary, known as Ḥāfiẓ al-Dīn, born in Nasab (Nakhshab) in Transoxania (present-day Uzbekistan), who authored a number of popular works, including al-Wāfī on Islamic law, its commentary al-Kāfī, its abridgement Kanz al-Daqāʾiq, Matn al-Manār on legal metholodology (usūl al-fiqh), and Madārik al-Tanzīl in tafsīr.
